Teen and Young Adult Therapy:
The teen and young adult years can be an exciting time of growth and independence, but these years can also bring significant emotional and social challenges. Adolescents and young adults are navigating changes in their identity, friendships, family relationships, school pressures, and expectations for the future. Therapy can provide a safe, supportive space where they can talk openly about what they are experiencing without feeling judged or criticized. Having a trusted adult outside of their family can help them feel heard, understood, and less alone as they work through difficult emotions and experiences.
Therapy can help teens and young adults develop practical skills for managing stress, anxiety, sadness, conflict, and difficult relationships. Through counseling, they can gain a better understanding of their emotions, build confidence and self-awareness, improve communication, and learn healthier ways of coping with challenges. Therapy is not about telling them what to do; it is about helping them discover their own strengths, develop effective tools, and feel more capable of navigating the challenges of adolescence and the transition into full adulthood.
I have spent over 25 years working with teens and young adults from all different walks of life and with all different struggles. Sometimes those struggles are about adjusting to growing up and sometimes those struggles turn more difficult, leading to states of serious depression or anxiety. I work hard to establish a safe and trusting relationship with teens and young adults so that they can explore all their feelings and we can come up with successful ways of coping and eventually, thriving!
Teens and young adults need support around them so I also work to incorporate their parents, family or community as is needed. I am dedicated to helping teens and young adults find their voice, develop confidence and live the life they dream of living.
